Expertise offered Nowadays systems of technical sight which are carrying out supervision and management by various technological operations in an automatic mode have the wide spread. Besides this a market of digital videos and cameras actively develops. The optical subsystems which are the part of vision systems and video cameras distorts received image. One of the most significant distortions influencing accuracy of functioning vision systems and functionalities of the digital video equipment is radial distortion. The most widespread approach to vision systems calibration is using the special template object or pattern located in the special position on working scene and which is used for vision system parameters calculating. The disadvantage of this approach is that a calibration template object must be arranged in working scene before the calibration that in some practical applications cannot be implemented and excludes an automatic mode. The proposed method of radial distortion’s calibration doesn’t require a special calibration pattern. The method is based on automatic searching in working scene of object that should be used later as a calibration object and calculating parameters of distortion by analyzing object’s image. The offered method allows to define and correct radial distortion of vision system and digital video cameras without usage a special calibration object, due to this radial distortion can be automatically calibrated. The proposed method distinctive feature comparing to existing methods is image processing in automatic mode and with correction accuracy enough for visual perception. Also the proposed method allows to create panoramic images automatically from a frames sequence and provides geometrical correctness in regions of merging The researches are based on 10 patents of Russian Federation.
Problems to be solved and results: Consequently automatic distortion calibration method that provides automatic quality increase of obtained and processed images in technical vision systems is discussed. Image processing methods based distortion correction method designed for video equipment functional capabilities extension differs from existing methods by automatic mode and greater processing accuracy.
