October 9-12, 2014, Krasnodar and Anapa (Black Sea)

Seminar Contemporary Political Reality and State: Complex Methods of Analysis is planned for October 9-12, 2014 in Krasnodar and Anapa (Black Sea).

The aims of the Seminar are to renew and to enrich the methodological toolbox of political scientists facing the challenges of new phenomena, events and trends in the modern Russian and global politics and to study of peculiar features of new political actors and their mentality.

The following topics are proposed for the discussion:

  • The main characteristics of the current political reality
  • Current political reality and information society, network community, knowledge society, risk society
  • The crisis of national state and its aftereffects
  • The revival of state: new contours of governability and competitiveness
  • Governance through communities and the role of state
  • Multilevel governance and state
  • Global governance and state
  • Russian political reality and the Russian state
  • Complex thinking and its role in politics and political research
  • Network approach to politics
  • Configurative methods of political research
  • Synthetic methods of political research
  • Culture, state, policy: political culture turn in politics
  • Post-colonialism and its meaning for political research.

The special seminar on Preparing articles for publishing in foreign scientific periodicalsby an authorized expert of Scopus international citing database is planned.

Venue: Krasnodar (Kuban State University), Anapa (the venue will be specified later). The organizers provide the transfer from/to Krasnodar airport and railway station to the venue. A cultural program is also planned.

The seminar is sponsored by the Russian Humanitarian Research Foundation. Round-trip tickets should be paid for by the participants. Housing and boarding is financially supported by the RHRF grant.

Deadline for your application and abstract is August 25, 2014.

The abstract should be in MS Word, Times New Roman font (size 14), 1.5 line-spaced and the following margins: top/bottom 2 cm, right 1 cm, left 3 cm.

The author’s name with initials and city in round brackets, please, type right, e.g. J.J. Johnson (Krasnodar). The title of the presentation should go on the next line centered.

References should be indicated in the text in round brackets, e.g. (Wilkinson, 2001, 137). Reference list is to be put at the end of the text alphabetically ordered. No footnotes, page Nos. and other footers are allowed. The text should not be longer that 6000 characters including spaces.

The letter of invitation will be sent till September 22, 2014.
