Regular FP7 information CORDIS-based e-mail newsletters for regional universities,
research organizations and SMEs

The Central Black Soil Regional Information Point for scientific and technological cooperation with the EU (the CBS RIP) prepares and sends once a month a Newsletter (calls for proposals, grants, conferences) in Russian language with the aim to raise awareness of regional universities and scientific organizations of opportunities for participation in scientific and education calls for proposals of foreign and Russian organisations, foundations and programmes.

The Newsletter has a clear structure according to thematic and scientific areas (Annex 1). It should be mentioned that FP7 part contains a list of open calls along with translation into Russian made by the CBS RIP staff and a subsection “FP7 aspects” (its title is changeable from topic to topic) devoted to explanation of rules of participation, administrative procedures and legal issues of FP7.

It contains updated information on FP7calls for proposals, other European, international and Russian research and education programmes and foundations including separate section devoted to Federal Target Programme “Research and Development in Priority Fields of S&T Complex of Russia for 2007-2012” as well as upcoming conferences and announcement of publications relevant to the topic. To form the Newsletter web-sites and newsletters of more than 40 European and international and about 20 Russian RTD programmes and foundations are examined, as well as information from Russian and European NCPs and RIPs and other information recourses (more than 20). The list of organizations, foundations and programmes used through the newsletter preparation can be found in Annex 2.

The average number of pages is about 30.

Posting of the newsletter is implemented via subscription system. The subscribers are both research teams and individuals from faculties and departments of Voronezh State University, universities and research organisations of the Central Black Soil Region, other Russian regions as well as NIS countries. The list of subscriber organizations the CBS RIP Newsletter is sent to can be found below. At present number of subscribers exceed 700 applicants.

A survey shows that the CBS RIP newsletter is the key source of information on new calls for proposals and funding programmes for 25,7% regional scientists.
